Dayz Festival 2011
This year will be the second year that the Demopolis
Area Chamber of Commerce and the Demopolis City Schools Foundation
will host the Hay Dayz Festival. This year the event will be
located at the Demopolis River City Landing and the George Franks
Field off of Hwy 43 North.
W.J. Attractions Carnival will begin Thursday,
September 8th, and the festival itself will begin at 9:00
a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10th. You may purchase tickets or arm bands
for rides. On Saturday there will be carnival rides, pony rides, a
mechanical bull, bungee trampoline, mechanical bull, inflatable
activities, as well as food vendors all located in the City Landing
area.
The Demopolis City Schools Foundation activities will
be enclosed within the George Franks Field and there will be a $5.00
fee to enter for those over 12 to visit craft vendors and watch the
talent show which will begin at 6:00 p.m.
On Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. there will be a Hay
Bale contest with Jim Bird judging at 1:00 p.m. The first ten
people to pre-register will get a hay bale for $10.00 and they are
to bring only $10.00 worth of items to create their hay bale art.
Throughout the day there will be contests such as pie baking,
animal noises, and a watermelon seed spitting contest.
