Parking and Getting Into Gaineswood

Site signage at the Cedar Ave., Whitfield St., and Morgan St. pedestrian entrances will help you identify where to park, walk onto the site, and start your guided tour. Ample parking is available along the site fencing near the Whitfield St. and Morgan St. pedestrian entrances. There is limited Gaineswood parking on Cedar Avenue, next to the State Historical Marker, Replicated Porter’s Lodge and iron gates. The shortest pedestrian approaches to the mansion are from the Whitfield and Morgan pedestrian entrances. Vehicular access onto the grounds is prohibited.

The tour entrance is on the south, or back, side of the mansion.  Simply enter the house.  A docent will take your admission in the tour entrance foyer, and your tour will begin on the hour.

If you have time before or after your tour, you may wish to ask your docent or staff for a plan view map of the grounds.  A self-guided tour of the grounds is under development, but in the meantime, the plan view map allows you to identify the features of the grounds in a leisurely, informal manner.  NOTE-If you arrive between hours and/or miss your desired tour time, a plan view map with questions is provided free of charge in the hope you will spend time on the grounds and stay for the next tour.
