TOUR AND SAFETY TIPS

Gaineswood offers a variety of stimulating educational experiences.  For a small fee you can take a guided tour, starting on the hour, of Gaineswood’s ornate interior!  If  you would like to bring a group or turn Gaineswood into a classroom for your students, just let us know and we will accommodate you.  Please review the following Tour and Safety Tips to help make your visit safe, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Ø      Starting your guided tour on the hour entitles you to a private, uninterrupted tour!   Plan to arrive before the top of the hour so you can start on time and get the most out of your tour.  Admission is collected inside the tour entrance foyer.

Ø      Running late?  No problem.  We accept tour arrivals up to 15 minutes past the hour.  If you miss your tour time, you can enjoy the grounds at no cost until the next tour.  Plan view maps are available to make your visit on the grounds more informative. 

Ø      Gaineswood has a modern, unisex restroom adjoining the house.  If you need to use it, we will be happy to point you to it.

Ø      During the tour you will stand and walk on heart pine flooring for nearly an hour.  For your comfort and safety please wear flat, comfortable shoes.

Ø      The guided tour allows you to discover Gaineswood’s ornate interior and learn why Gaineswood is a National Historic Landmark.  Unfortunately, some rooms and areas are off-limits for safety reasons.

Ø      You can photograph, videotape, and/or image outside.  You may also bring your camera, imaging device, and/or camcorder inside.  However, due to copyright, theft, and terrorism concerns, we do not allow photos, taping, or imaging inside the home.

Ø      Please help minimize pest infestation by keeping food, drinks, and gum outside.  For your safety, please do not touch or bump furnishings inside the home. 

Ø      Feel free to ask questions and interact with your guide.  It is, after all, YOUR tour.
